ASUS’ T101MT Joins the Tablet PC Frenzy

According to Softpedia, you can add another computer producing company to the list of growing names that suddenly have an interest in Tablet-PC maufacturing since the launch of the iPad. ASUS computing has announced that their T1001MT, based off a EEE PC design, will be “convertible”; meaning that it will most likely have a swivel monitor that allows it to be used like a tablet pc.  So, unlike the HP Slate machine, this is a converted eee pc. iPad Tablet PC is Harbinger of Market’s Future

In a press release from Xplore Tech Tablet PC manufacturer, Mark Holleran lays out his vision of the future of the tablet pc market.  Essentially, with the explosive marketing and acceptance of the Apple iPad tablet pc, Holleran feels that his company is poised to make a move into acquiring part of the tablet pc target user base later this year. Xplore’s tablet pcs focus on the rugged, tough-built portable computers that are often used in high-impact jobs such as construction. Taiwan TAITRA on Tablet PCs

According to ExpertReviews article on Tablet PCs, Taiwanese TAITRA sees the Tablet PC market exploding over the coming years. The discussion also includes Tablet PC plans for ASUS, Gigabyte and others who confirm plans to either produce or wait for others to produce.  The T28 Table PC from Gigabyte, for example, will be updated and turned into the T1000 and T1000P (the latter including the market-differentiating multi-touch screen.  Both are rumored to include the Intel Atom N450 series of processor and more power than an iPad. HP Slate Tablet PC Price Set, Launch in Q4 2010

HP appears to be the great hope for Intel and Windows based tablets to take on the iPad.  Reports from various sources have pegged the HP Slate at a price of $540.  While this doesn’t undercut the iPad’s price, it certainly puts the HP Slate in the ballpark with Apple’s iPad Tablet PC.  Hewlett Packard is hoping that the Slate and it’s features that the iPad doesn’t have such as USB, Flash Support and a built-in camera will be enough to swing the market share in their favor.
